Knife Holders 2

Image
Ok, so back at it, hopefully I'll finish this project today. Ya, it didn't happen, on to Wednesday, Ooops. But I'm gonna write about it anyway. OK, so here goes: I shortened and truncated the Knife Holder to fit the Gridfintity base plate, then notched the Gridfinity base plate with the appropriate negative volume to accommodate it - So now, all I have to do is glue the truncated (short) version of the Knife Holder to the Gridfinity base plate - No, not really, since I provided for interference fit on this bad boy. So now I just print and bend the Knife Holder in the middle, and press down into the base along the Knife Holder bottom plate, and Viola! Success! And yes, no glue necessary, but if you want, feel free to do so. Here is what it looks like in my kitchen drawer, times 2 (look to the right of photo):

Tonight finds me working on Knife Holders by xxdavexx , found at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1839405 . I will probably try to somehow incorporate this with a Gridfinity base plate, just to lock it in place in the kitchen drawer. Here is the prototype: Now, to add the base plate: OOOps!!! Here is where things got INTERESTING. I was trying to merge the prototype with a Gridfinity baseplate, and running into a problem with the prototype staying on the build plate, I could not get it to stay in place when trying to lift it into the other part, which meant that the bottom of the prototype (pt) was in the wrong place: As you can plainly see, the pt was blocking the grooves for the base, making this an epic fail, were I to go and print it. So, after going through hours of iteration trying to align the parts in CAD and getting frustrated with what a PITA it was just to do a *simple* thing to a model, I just decided to say *FSCK* It. I went back to Google *yet again*, and found t...
